Tea Estate



Tea plantation in Kerala is spread over Idukki, Wayanad, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Palakkad but Idukki and Wayanad are the two major tea producing regions by way of total acreage under tea. Idukki is the most important district with 72% of the total acreage of Kerala under tea plantations here.

Eravikulam National Park



Eravikulam national park is spread over an extensive area of 97 sq km along the crest of Western Ghats in the high ranges of Idukki district. Located 15 km from Munnar, it is one of most important tourist destinations in Kerala. The national park is managed by the Kerala Department of Forest and Wildlife, Munnar.

Marayoor Sandal



Marayoor is the only place in Kerala that has a natural growth of sandalwood trees. The sandalwood factory of the Forest Department, the caves with murals and relics from the New Stone Age civilization and the children's park spread across a hectare of land under the canopy of a single Banyan tree are of great interest to tourists.

Marayoor Nannangadi



'Nannangadi' had been used between 5th and 10th century , made by granite, literate and pottery. Nannangadi has been found many places in Wayanad and Idukki in Kerala state . Nannangadi were used for burial purpose of dead bodies. This is a big earthen jar used as coffin box for cremation purpose.

Kanthalloor



Kanthalloor is a village in Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a village nestled in the Western Ghats of India. The salubrious climate and the picturesque landscapes and wide variety of tropical crops coupled with the close proximity of Munnar , has transformed this village into a tourist destination.

Karimutty Waterfalls



Karimutty is located at an elevation of about 550 feet in the Western Ghats attracting tourists from all over. The water here passes over a lot of medicinal herbs, and therefore has the capacity to cure a number of ailments. There is also a belief that mentally ill gets cured after bathing at the falls.

Marayoor Sarkara



Marayoor Sarkara or Marayoor Jaggery is known to be one of the sweetest jaggery available in India. It is an organic product and is mainly used for ayurvedic medicines and temple pooja. Jaggery production is considered to be a cottage industry in this part of the world and is traditionally made in the respective farms.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary



Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique protected area located in the rain shadow region in the eastern slope of Western Ghats, adjoining Tamilnadu. There is an Interpretation Centre at Karimutty, two eco shops, one each at Chinnar check post and Aalampetty, an amenity centre, inspection bunglow, dormitory and cafeteria/at Chinnar check post to cater to the needs of visitors.

Amaravathy Dam



The Amaravathi Dam is a dam constructed on the Amaravati River. It is located at Amaravathinagar, 25 kilometres south of Udumalpet on SH 17 in the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary, Tirupur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The associated Amaravathi Reservoir is 9.31 square kilometres in area and 33.53 metres deep.

Crocodile Farm



The largest wild breeding population of Crocodiles in South India lives in the Amaravathy reservoir and in the Chinnar, Thennar and Pambar rivers that drain into it. These broad-snouted Mugger Crocodiles, also known as Marsh Crocodiles and Persian Crocodiles, are the most common and widespread of the three species of Crocodiles found in India.

Mattupetty Dam



Mattupetty Dam, near Munnar in Idukki District, is a storage Concrete Gravity dam built in the mountains of Kerala, India to conserve water for hydroelectricity. It has been a vital source of power, yielding along with other such dams, huge revenue to the states. The large amount of perennially available water allows wild animals and birds to flourish.

Tea Museum



The Munnar Tea Museum outlines the development of tea estates which has been displayed by the elementary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. These machineries display various stages of tea processing and the variable contrast in them. One can also learn the production of black tea from the exhibits displayed within the Tea Museum. At the entrance of the museum, one can witness a sundial placed on a granite block. This artifact has a historical relevance attached to it.

Top Station



Top Station, located around 32 km away from Munnar, is the highest point (1700m) in Munnar, on the Munnar-Kodaikkanal road. The place falls on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Top Station got its name from the fact that it was the uppermost railway station located in the Kundala Valley. At this highest point, you may feel that the clouds are just a hand touch away from you. The destination is famous for the Neelakurinji flowers (Strobilanthus), which used to bloom once in twelve years.

Talayar Valley



Talayar Valley is easily approachable from the town of is 18 km from Munnar, on the way to Udumelpet.This entire journey gives you the opportunity to enjoy spectacular view of the mountains, green of winding and wavy tea plantations,brooks and small waterfalls.Woodbriar plantations here share borders with Eravikulam National Park which has been a prominent wildlife reserve to protect the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. As you near Talayar Valley something overwhelming happens all around you.
